Frequently Asked Questions

There are many ways to support Earth Hour 2023, like…

  • Switching off non-essential lights on 25 March at 8:30pm to support the famous lights-off event.
  • Making a pledge to support Earth Hour 2023 and sharing that pledge. Your pledge will be displayed on the pledge page here. To view your pledge, search for your name (for individuals) or the name of your organisation, company or school. You can then take a screenshot to record your pledge!
  • You will receive an automatic email reply to acknowledge the successful completion of your pledge. If some time has passed and you have not received this email, please check your junk mail box.
  • New for this year: after making a pledge, you can choose to share your photos with us about how you supported Earth Hour 2023. If you share photos with us, we’ll give you an e-certificate of recognition! Click here to upload your photos on or before 15 April. You’ll then receive your e-certificate on or before 30 April.

Yes you do. The e-certificate is our way of saying thank you for encouraging and motivating even more people to make a pledge and support Earth Hour.

As in previous years, we encourage everyone to sign the Earth Hour pledge as a commitment to change the way we live to protect habitats and the natural world.

This year, to motivate people to go beyond the pledge, we will issue an e-certificate to acknowledge your support if you can share your Earth Hour moments photos with us. This is entirely optional but we look forward to your sharing!

Each submission is limited to a maximum of five photos, with acceptable file formats being .jpg / .jpeg / .png / .webp . The maximum size for each file should not exceed 20MB. Content-wise, photos should show you participating in Earth Hour or related events, for example turning off lights or electronics, or actively recycling products. Your photos may be selected and used in our Earth Hour wrap-up materials (including but not limited to our publications, website and social media channels). These will be used for conservation communications purposes only. If you have any questions, please contact earthhour@wwf.org.hk

Your name, and the name of your organisation, company or school will be on the e-certificate.

The following information is required, but will only be used for registration purposes – it will not be printed on the e-certificate:

  • Contact person
  • Email address
  • Uploaded photos
  • Photo captions
  • Your Earth Hour message (optional)
