About Earth Hour 2026

One hour of action. A lifetime of impact. Don’t just watch the clock - join WWF-Hong Kong and millions across 190 countries and regions to turn a moment of darkness into a movement for our future.

Since 2007, Earth Hour has been a global beacon of hope. But in 2026, symbolic gestures are no longer enough. We are in a race against time to stay below the 1.5°C climate threshold and reverse nature loss by 2030.

The State of Our Home: A Response to a Crisis

Our latest State of Hong Kong Biodiversity 2025 report reveals that over 25% of our assessed local species are at risk of local extinction. While switching off your lights at 8:30 PM on 28 March is a vital symbol, our planet needs your active contribution to reverse this trend. It is time to go beyond the hour and make sustainable living your new standard.

The Solution – 60 Minutes to Reset. A Lifetime to Restore.

Don't just think about change; create it. We invite you to spend 60 minutes doing something—anything—positive for our planet. Use your hour to:

  • Rethink Audit your daily habits. In a city as dense as Hong Kong, small changes—like committing to a plastic-free lifestyle or choosing sustainable seafood—lead to massive collective impact.
  • Reconnect: Switch off your devices and spend 60 minutes mindfully appreciating the nature around you—whether it's stargazing from your balcony or enjoying the quiet of a dimmed room.
  • Restore: Take the first step. Audit your household habits to reduce waste or plan a sustainable, plant-forward meal for the week ahead.檢視日常習慣以減少浪費,或規劃一頓低碳素食晚餐。
  • Inspire: Share your commitment to a nature-positive life with your friends and family online.
